The week 2 glut is upon the SAG. Six teams are now 1–1 and all of those have shown real Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde performances to kick off the season. Much like peace in the ̶m̶i̶d̶d̶l̶e̶ ̶e̶a̶s̶t̶ Melbourne CBD, the next couple of weeks will sort out the wheat from the chaff and teams will either fall off the knife’s edge or have their seasons commit seppuku upon its tamahagane steel blade.

And now, onto the recap…

C4NT lost to Co-cainers

A reversal of fortunes here for both sides from last week in a match up that really had only one highlight, but what a highlight it was. King Henry returned to his fantasy throne with an absolutely lights out performance. Dialing up 237 yards from scrimmage and 3 TDs, shut the gate the match was over. A masterful display from the premier back in the NFL right now. Elsewhere, Dak got a W but sucked for C4NT; Rodgers bounced back and looked to be him old self for the Cainers and they also had a frugal Buffalo D keep a clean sheet on the Fins.

Rubbers lost to JABs

Dalvin Cook had a million injury scares during his outing, which would have been worrying for the Rubbers on a normal week — yet somehow the rest of his roster looks to be in about as good a nick as Cook right now. Perhaps the #VicQuake will shake things up north of the dividing range and some Bendigo springtime air will clear the mindset of probably the worst team in SAG right now. JABs meanwhile were very solid everywhere. It would be remiss of me not to highlight the 2 TDs and 107 yards on the ground from Lamar in the Raven’s steal (game of the week). Looking to see more from the JABs over the next few weeks as we start to shake out which teams really have that Sustainability and Consistency over the season.

Gypsies lost to the Bandits

The Django guided Bandit train got up to steam this week. Not full steam, just a gentle expected cruising level. We’ll wait to see if this is a maintainable performance standard but there is an ominous feeling to this team. At an individual player level, gee Kyler Murray is exciting. A type of player that sells seats and attracts eyeballs. On the Gypsy front, Aaron Jones was the second Aaron in from the Packers to make the highlight packages of the week. Unfortunately, it was a case of too little from too many within the rest of the Gypsy roster, but there is a glimmer of hope from the bench scoring that shows the world isn’t all doom and gloom at Gypsy HQ.

TacoCorp lost to Patches

This was a Belichick like performance from Patches — execute the game plan, do your job, everyone contributes, victory ensues. Starting strong with Brady doing Brady things, the whitest team in the SAG (5/9 skill position players on the Patches starting team are white) is now the only 2–0 team in the SAG. TacoCorp did everything they could this week, meeting predictions but was just straight outmatched. It wasn’t his week this week, but a very strong showing but with the highest points against total and a 1–1 record, life isn’t looking too bad for the returning GM.

Looking forward to week 3, also stay tuned for updates from the SAG Punting Club (official endorsement under review) next week as well.

2nd and 12,

Commish.
