The beauty of creating a note is that you start with a blank sheet. From here you can let you creativity flow and do anything you want. Anything that is in your head can be captured and will unfold in something you can see and build further upon.

But sometimes you want to support your creativity with a structure, something that you established and works for you specifically. This helps you focus on the things you want to do without having to reinvent the process every time.

This is why we introduced note templates in Saga 1.3. Let’s say you are planning your weeks and established the following structure:

  • The title is the date of the first day of the week
  • You start with a list of goals for the week
  • Every weekday is a heading where you will add your todos, events and notes.

Within the saga settings, we can now edit the saga template.

Editing templates is the same as editing a note. And whenever creating a note within this saga the template will be used instead of a blank note.

In this case we will create a template with an empty title, because here you will add the date for the specific note. We will add the goals with an empty list and the weekday headings with an empty todo on Monday.

Make sure you put the cursor in the title, so it will be there when you create a note.

That’s it. The next time you create a note, it will be pre-populated with the contents of your template and you can immediately start to add you goals, todos, etc.

What’s next?

We will continue to build work on making Saga the best note taking, planning and journaling app. For the next release we already have great features in mind, so stay tuned!

If you like what we’re doing, consider supporting us with one of our in-app subscriptions. We would really appreciate it and it helps us develop more great features in the future.
