Saga is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with Fairblock, a Web3 project that is building blockchain infrastructure for applications with pre-execution privacy. The lack of “pre-execution privacy” has limited many on-chain applications including private governance, on-chain private intents, and sealed-bid auctions. Their goal is to build an infrastructure that can enable an ecosystem of applications such as front-running protection, private voting/governance, censorship-resistant rollup sequencers, encrypted limit orders, gaming and randomness generation oracles.

About Fairblock and the Saga Innovator Program

Saga is building Web3 infrastructure solutions to enable developers to build applications with their own dedicated blockspace. Dedicated blockspace ensures high throughput, no dependencies on other applications using Saga, easy upgradability and congestion relief. In addition, gas fees for infrastructure remain predictable and are by default hidden from the end user, allowing developers to use any token or currency for their applications. The automated deployment of dedicated blockspace will be secured via interchain security by the same set of validators that underlie the Saga mainnet.

The highly simplified flow our approach will have is as follows:

a. Users encrypt transactions using a master public key (which will be updated very infrequently) and “conditions for decryption” and submit them to the destination chain directly. This step happens seamlessly on the frontend of the application or in the user’s wallet.

b. Validators or (sequencers) of the destination application include the encrypted transaction in a block.

c. Once the conditions are met, FairyRing validators submit their private key-shares for the particular condition. The private key can decrypt all of the transactions that have been encrypted under certain conditions e.g. block height or price. This makes our infrastructure much more scalable due to the minimal bandwidth overhead.

d. The private key will be automatically aggregated using an honest majority of private key-shares of FairyRing validators.

e. The aggregated private key will be used to decrypt all of the previously encrypted transactions and executed following the ordering in step b (before the execution of regular transactions in the current block).

Fairblock will be exploring Saga’s chainlet infrastructure to support pre-execution privacy for the variety of applications and games within the Saga multiverse. In addition to this, Fairblock will be supporting sealed-bid auctions and how it may prevent malicious scenarios for Saga’s daily auctions. In Their Own Words

“Alongside hot applications of cryptography in DeFi that we’re building, I believe there’s an exciting unexplored area between privacy and gaming e.g. actions should be protected against bots, some games like poker or betting requires keeping your hand private before execution, some assets or achievements should be unlocked when gamers reach certain levels, or on-chain randomness can prevent many forms of exploits. We’re happy to explore these ideas with Saga and enable chainlets with these new features.” Peyman Momeni, Co-founder and CEO, Fairblock

“Most MEV providers see a profit opportunity in the inefficiency of chains. Fairblock takes a different perspective and tries to preserve both privacy and the integrity of chain operations to increase the confidence of applications building on a protocol. We’re thrilled to have them in the Innovator Program!” Rebecca Liao, Co-Founder & CEO, Saga.
