We need to talk. Because somewhere between your favorite beach reel and that new sunscreen haul, SPF myths have been thriving harder than your summer tan.

As a Certified medical cosmetologist, I see way too many people layering their skincare routines perfectly only to completely mess up the sunscreen game.

So let’s bust the 5 biggest sunscreen myths that are quietly killing your glow.

Myth #1: SPF 100 = Double the Protection

Reality check: SPF 100 does not mean you’re invincible or twice as protected as SPF 50.

Science says: SPF 30 blocks about 97% of UVB rays, while SPF 50 blocks around 98%. Higher SPFs offer only marginally better protection.

So what’s the catch?

People using high SPF often stay out longer and forget to reapply, assuming they're invincible. That means more sun damage, not less.

Certified tip: Go for SPF 30 to 50 with broad-spectrum protection (UVA + UVB) and reapply every 2 hours. That matters way more than chasing triple digits.
