We wish you a merry Christmas, we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy end of the quarter! By opening your advent calendar this week, you realise how time goes by, 2019 is coming to an end. So is your quarter and the time you have left to find your little cousin the perfect Christmas present. Relax, take a deep breath. We are here to help. Here are some tips to survive the Christmas rush.

1-Beware of the Christmas party

Sure, this will probably be THE event of the year at your company! You cannot wait to socialise with your dear colleagues, to make the most of the free drinks and food paid for by your company… and to wake up the next day, ashamed of your performance on Mariah Carey’s “All I want for Christmas”. Prepare this event, set boundaries, know your flaws and ask your office buddy to stick by you. For a complete preparation:

2-Make sure to take good care of your work/life balance

We can already see you running everywhere to make sure you finish the year on a positive note and actively preparing 2020’s strategic plan. But watch out! Feeling and being overwhelmed in this season is far too common! Do not neglect your time at home and your time for yourself. Maybe you will not be able to do all you have to do. But prioritise, ask for help and put things into perspective: you are not alone!

3-Fruit, nuts and spices!

Christmas is the time to enjoy citrus fruits, Christmas tea, (mulled wine) and gingerbread. This time of the year is, many will agree, the most tasteful. Take advantage of the festive season to consume seasonal products to boost your natural defences and your mood! Citrus fruits are full of vitamins, fibre and are low in calories, everything to make it the perfect snack of the day. Spices are also full of unexpected virtues!

4-Make a list of Christmas things to do

Christmas and December would not be complete without its set of traditions. Make yourself a list of things that make you feel good, that helps you cope with the stress and sets you in the mood for the celebrations. Watch this new movie on Netflix, go to the pantomime, listen to carols, create your new traditions by challenging yourself to try new things! Let yourself wander around and let the atmosphere make the rest.

5-Take time to give back

The holiday season is the moment to reflect on one’s life, to realise its achievements, its joys and grieves. Time as well to be kind to others and to give your time and attention. No matter what is your talent: cooking, running, singing, organising… There will be an event you can attend or take part in. Such events can be a good way to bond with your colleagues and to do something meaningful within your company.

6-Relax for Christmas presents

A vast majority of Brits shop late November/early December, however, last-minute gifts purchased without overthinking it are ok too! When you see that 92% of British people believe that the thought prevails on the gift itself, no doubt Christmas spirit lives on!
