Huge funding announcement at SoshentLIVE!

SoshentLIVE was a night of energetic conversation, next-level networking, and a crash course in the capabilities of Soshent itself.

It also provided a platform for a major funding announcement from the Ministry of Economic Development and Growth, to the tune of a $13.6 million dollar investment to advance social enterprise and social finance initiatives throughout the province.

This is a fantastic development, especially coming on the heels of all the ways the province has been supporting social enterprise this year: establishing a provincial Social Enterprise Strategy, a Social Enterprise Demonstration Fund, a Procurement and Investment Readiness Fund, and ONE Social Enterprise Partnerships.

These are generous investments, but they are are also a smart use of funds. Ontario has an estimated 10,000 social enterprises in Ontario, generating an average of $1.2 million in revenues, and approximately 380,000 jobs.

And they do all these things while also driving social, environmental and economic change. To quote Minister of Economic Development and Growth Steven Del Duca, “When we foster an environment where social enterprises can thrive, we are taking steps toward making our world a better place”
