New iMacs for Communications Creatives

Salem, Mass., Sept. 1, 2016 — One of the computer labs in the Central Campus building at Salem State University is getting all new computers in a few months, and professors and students can’t wait.

Computer Lab administrator Ellen Hughes stops for a moment on August 31, 2016, while readying the CC 148 iMacs for the start of classes.

“I’m looking forward to faster machines for all the students who work with multimedia programs,” said Professor Jane Regan. “Because of the way the journalism ecosystem is evolving, pretty much every journalism course has to have photos, video and audio. Faster computers with the latest programs will assure our students are getting the most up-to-date and relevant experiences possible.”

The new computers — 26 iMacs — will be in CC 153, located in the main hallway on the first floor. Hughes said she plans to install the machines and test all the software during the break between fall and spring semesters.
