There is a reason why a handshake has become the sign of greeting, trust and respect in the western world. A handshake can allow you to command a room, convey a presence, and can quickly allow you to establish a position of influence in a single gesture. If the handshake is done correctly it will send a nonverbal message of your ability and expertise in what you are doing. A good firm handshake will tell the customer that you are confident in what you are saying and that you are taking a genuine interest in that person. Nothing can be more effective at rapport building than the personal contact of a good handshake.
