This month, we’ve released new features (🎉) on architect.salesforce.com, as well as major updates to Well-Architected, Salesforce Diagrams and Architect Decision Guides.

With these changes, we are also providing our first-ever release notes. We hope this will help you understand what’s new and what’s changed in our July 2023 release, and provide a more transparent record of major changes over time.

Major updates in this release include:

  • Architect’s Guide to Building Forms — You asked for guidance related to OmniStudio — and with this release, you will find it.
  • Salesforce Well-Architected — We launched the first release in July 2022. Since that time, we’ve heard feedback from architects worldwide. Thank you to everyone who has shared feedback and ideas with us. We prioritized changes based on what we heard and discussed with all of you, and with experts on our product and engineering teams at Salesforce. The most notable updates are changes we’ve made to topic names within Easy to better clarify content. You can see the updated framework at-a-glance:
Trusted, Easy, Adaptable cards with subtopic labels. First subtopic under Easy is Intentional.

You can read the details about all the changes in our July 2023 release notes.

In this post, we highlight some of the new features in this release. We take a deeper look at what’s behind these features and where we’re going next.

Better ability to sort and filter content

We (finally!) are introducing the ability to filter or search content within a specific section. This has been one of the most requested features for the site. With this initial release, you’ll see a new component in action on our Template Gallery.

Here’s what you will find:

Behind the scenes, we built out a more streamlined and predictable filter taxonomy for products. We introduced the new filtering on the Roadmap Explorer a few weeks ago. As we prepared to release filter and search capability in the Template Gallery, we also introduced a consistent format for labeling content. We also introduced a more modular, dynamic (and debug-friendly) design for the components that power the Template Gallery and display diagram content.

These changes created a faster search and filter experience, as well as a better UI for individual diagrams:

Customer Model Overview diagram detail page with 3 buttons beneath the diagram for downloads and Lucidchart actions
Updated diagram detail page

We can scale this approach across the growing amount of graphic and text content on our site. Right now, you’ll see it applied to the Template Gallery.

We will introduce more ways to filter or sort in the coming months. We will also expand the ability to filter and search specific content areas beyond the Template Gallery. Please continue to tell us what you would like to see.

Subscribe to our content

We added support for RSS (Really Simple Syndication) with this release. Many of you asked for better ways to keep up with new diagrams or content on architect.salesforce.com. Now you can use your RSS reader of choice and always see what’s new on our site.

Behind the scenes, we also built automation to populate and maintain the “last updated” dates you see on our content. We have been managing this manually. This had two benefits: helping make the RSS feed for the site accurate (and functional), and also providing more accuracy and transparency about the content on our site. This change applies to all content on the site.
