At movie premiers, they have the red carpet. At our most recent Salesforce Girl Geek Dinner, the Seattle area’s most inspirational Girl Geeks strutted their stuff on the blue carpet leading to a photo opp where they posed with a backdrop of trailblazing women from across the ages.

Girl Geek Dinners is a global organization with the mission of creating an informal platform where technical girls and women of all ages can network and learn from others in their local communities. We were excited to host our first Seattle Girl Geek Dinner on Thursday, April 6 in our new Bellevue Office, welcoming 115 Girl Geeks into our space.

Here are some of our favorite moments from the event:

Networking. It was a beautiful day in Bellevue which meant we could take our networking outside to the patio. Inspiration comes easy with great people and the brisk, Seattle breeze surrounding you.

Learning how to overcome your battle with time. Bhavana Rehani taught us how she overcame her battle with time while juggling work, personal interests, and her family.

Rocketships can come in any shape or size. Chelsea Baltierra gained inspiration from Sheryl Sandberg’s quote “If you’re offered a seat on a rocketship, don’t ask what seat! Just get on!” and discussed how a “rocketship” can be anything as small as getting out of bed in the morning or as big as your next career opportunity.

You don’t have to be perfect to be happy. Nazanin Bakhshi opened up about her struggle to be perfect and the metrics she uses to properly evaluate herself.

Inspirational women on the blue carpet. Our favorite part of the night was meeting all the inspirational women who attended and giving them an opportunity to walk the blue carpet.

The best part of hosting the Seattle Girl Geek Dinner was the inspiration and passion that we felt from each of the Girl Geeks who attended. We are always amazed at the women who are part of the larger tech community and look forward to meeting more as we continue to get more involved in the Seattle area!

Did you attend the Seattle Girl Geek Dinner? Share your favorite moment in the comments below! And if you’re in the Bay Area, keep an eye out for the next event at our San Francisco office in January.
