Our Technology & Products team recently celebrated it’s Spring ’16 release with our third Demo Derby. The Demo Derby occurs after every major release and allows teams to compete for awesome prizes and celebrate their accomplishments in fun and creative ways. It’s also a great way for the team to learn about what was developed across the org, get some great schwag, and to cheer on their peers!

Here are some of our favorite moments:

Atmosphere: The Demo Derby is a global event with remote teams watching from all over the world. Our local audience was 200+ strong and energized with Thunder Sticks, appetizers, and slushy sangrias from our friends at Straw.

Judges: This time we had 3 judges determine our winning teams with an additional People’s Choice award going to the audience favorite. Our judges spanned Technology & Products as well as our Customer Success organization since our customer is always top of mind during development.

Demos: The demos were a cut above, as our teams got a helpful boost from our resident experts, the Product Marketing team. We had an epic rap, dancing, hilarious skits, and one team may have even slayed a tech monster. It doesn’t get much better than that!

Prizes: Teams competed for awesome prizes including team dinners, a wine tour, and a deluxe suite at an upcoming Giants game. With prizes like these, teams brought their creativity factor to the next level!

Winners: We had fantastic teams participate in the Spring ’16 Derby, but of course, we still had to choose winners. Here they are:

1st Place: FlexySexyCool (James Diefenderfer, Danny Lai)

Built beautiful, powerful Wave dashboards using the new Flex Dashboard Designer. Drag-and-drop dashboard components, create and embed ad-hoc analysis, and link related charts using clicks not code!

2nd Place: Records Experience (Violet Gong, Sahil Bhutani, Eric Shih)

Inline Edit in SFX Record Details: “A young lad embarks on a journey. He encounters obstacles in Lightning, but with Inline Edit, his world is made whole again”.

3rd Place: Process Team (Simon Lee, Shelly Erceg)

Custom events with Process Builder: “We will use IoT devices which make REST API calls to fire a process and trigger other cool things!” Clearly, they were pretty cool.

People’s Choice: Field Service (Roojuta Lalani, Aditi Gupta, Xiaoyu Xie)

Provided real world scenario of Field Service experience.

Thanks to all of our teams that participated! You made the Spring ’16 Demo Derby a rousing success!
