Share your Report and Dashboard Folders Lightning Fast!
It’s never been easier to share Reports and Dashboards! As you may know already, reports and dashboards can only be shared by folders in Salesforce. Starting in Winter ’18, folder managers can share a report or dashboard folder with users, roles or public groups and update folder sharing access in Lightning UI.
If your org has external users or roles enabled, such as partner users, partner roles, partner roles and subordinates, or customer users, then it’s possible to share a folder with view access with any of them.
Lightning Folder Sharing Benefits
- “Share” a folder with multiple users, groups or roles at the same time
- Quickly find who has access to a folder using new “Who can access” search filter
- Users without access to a folder can “View Shares” to see folder shares
- Programmatically share folder using Folder Sharing Public REST API
Analytics Folder Sharing
Lightning Folder sharing is built on Analytics Folder Sharing, which grants fine-grained access to reports and dashboard folders and offers the following benefits:
- Makes sharing concepts more consistent with User, Role or Group Sharing
- Allows sharing with individual users
- Fine grained access level for each folder share (View, Edit, Manage)
- Symmetric set of profile permissions for both reports and dashboards
If your org was created before Summer’13 release, turn on Enhanced Analytics Folder Sharing to share folders in Lightning. All orgs after summer’13 have this automatically enabled.
