As COVID-19 upended normal business operations, companies are under pressure to deliver seamless experiences and enable employees to do more with less. AI is here to help. From forecasting customer demand to curating personalized wellness suggestions, infusing AI in apps provides a competitive edge for businesses.

We are excited to make intelligence accessible to customers with a Lightning Platform Plus license. Starting today, both Einstein Prediction Builder and Einstein Next Best Action will now be included in Lightning Platform Plus, at no additional cost! Even if you don’t have Lightning Platform Plus, you can enable up to 1 prediction per org in any EE and above license for Einstein Prediction Builder. For Einstein Next Best Action, every org has up to 5,000 requests available.

Why is delivering intelligent experiences a must?

Intelligent app dev creates modern apps by making the user experience seamless and effortless. With an ever-growing amount of business data from your employees and customers, AI helps you take advantage of that data. You can provide predictions based on the data to simplify decision making or suggest recommended actions that connect to automation. Intelligent apps not only boost employee productivity but also increase customer satisfaction with personalized recommendations.

What intelligent apps can you build?

AI can yield benefits to both your employees and your customers. First, let’s take a look at a common IT team’s responsibility to track employee equipment and prevent shortages. Instead of doing this manually, AI can be used to read equipment usage patterns and track inventory. Based on this information, AI can predict if the inventory is expected to run low in a few months or just a matter of days. An action is then suggested, such as sending an email to the supplier or creating a line item in an inventory spreadsheet. This frees up the IT team’s time to work on higher-value initiatives.

Now let’s take a look at another use case. Consider the perspective of a recruiter. Thousands of applications stream in for one job listing, how can the recruiter leverage AI to sort through these applications? For one, AI can filter through all the applicants and predict which candidates will be high performers in the role. Secondly, any candidates of high potential will be recommended a next step, such as following up with the candidate, scheduling an interview, or passing a resume to the hiring manager. This means applicants are getting responses quicker and recruiters are able to shorten their time to hire.

How does Salesforce Einstein bring modern, smart apps to life?

Salesforce Einstein brings trusted, low-code AI to every business. Here are a couple of Salesforce Einstein features that you can add to your apps to harness the power of AI.

Einstein Prediction Builder
Einstein Prediction Builder allows you to declaratively add predictions to your apps and services. It uses advanced algorithms to predict the likelihood of an event to occur, such as a customer upgrading their product, or predicting a number, such as the predicted cost of a home in a geographic region. You can create custom AI models on any Salesforce field or object with just clicks, not code. It truly democratizes the power of AI without requiring a data scientist.

Einstein Next Best Action
With Einstein Next Best Action, you can add optimal recommendations at the point of maximum impact to your apps and services with a simple, drag-and-drop builder to create the logic for your strategies and connect to automation. This combines business rules with powerful predictive models, using Salesforce and non-Salesforce data. You can then use Flow to automate the recommended action.

Let’s see how an AI-infused app work in action

Let’s take a look at an example of how a manager manages the well-being of her employees and shares resources with her team with the help of AI. Before leveraging AI, Bessie, from the demo video below, uses a spreadsheet to track which of her employees are sick and emails her team when someone new contracts COVID-19. Her team is then responsible for letting her know if they came in contact with the person and asking for the next steps. There is no easy way to provide timely and personalized resources to her team without scheduling additional meetings and taking time from their weekly 1:1s.

Now let’s look at the communication when Bessie uses an AI-enabled app. Leveraging custom objects such as ‘Contact Risk’ and ‘COVID Shift Dates’, Bessie can easily track the well-being of her employees and provide COVID-19 recommendations. She can prioritize the recommendations by building action strategies. Some of the strategies are infused with Einstein Prediction scores such as the likelihood for an employee to be a high performer. If it’s deemed true, the recommendation will suggest additional leadership training actions. Now, when an employee from her team logins into their employee account, any actionable insights regarding COVID-19 and personalized employee messages will be displayed to make communication easier than ever.
