Salesforce Design (SD): How did you get into design?

Fatemeh Khatibloo (FK): I’ve always been interested in the notion of identity: what we have, what we know, and who we are. Design is central to the idea of identity and in a digital-first world, the role of ethics becomes even more important.

SD: What do you wish more people appreciated about the value of design?

FK: How much design can humanize technology.

SD: In the simplest terms, what’s the focus of your TDX session?

FK: Builders and designers will gain a framework for intentional innovation by considering the unintended impacts of the tech they’re building, inclusive collaboration, and creative problem-solving.

SD: What key points do you hope audiences will get from your TDX session and why is that important to you?

FK: I hope attendees will come away with a better understanding of what “ethics by design” means and why building with intention lifts all boats.

SD: How do you think this will help people do their work better or collaborate better?

FK: This session will help designers empathize with unexpected stakeholders.

SD: What do you love about being a part of the Office of Ethics and Human Use at Salesforce?

FK: I get to talk through the hard problems of identity and ensure that we are designing and building technologies that center all stakeholders.
