You might be surprised to learn that WOMEN are the new driving force behind technological advancements.

Once upon a time there was a girl who grew up south of Seattle. She never moved her whole life, and yet cultivated a love for learning about other people & cultures outside of the bubble she had always known. She majored in International Management, with a Minor in Spanish, from a small, private university north of Los Angeles. She lived in Spain, studied in Asia, and has since traveled all parts of the globe for both business and personal interests. Her career? Technology. For over 20 years. Her passion? Efficiency. Her desire? Help & serve others. Her motto: Challenge the status quo.

Once upon a time there was a girl who grew up south of Seattle. She moved a few times during her life, ending up basically in the evacuation path of Mt. Rainier, and cultivated a love for the outdoors, adventuring, and exploring outside of the small suburb she had grown to love. She majored in Computer Science from a small, private university in Eastern Washington. She studied in Hawaii, traveled to the UK including Wales and Ireland. Her career? Leading adventures on land — by foot, bicycle or otherwise. Her passion? Exploration. Her desire? Use technology to explore more. Her motto: Everyone having equal opportunity.

While I share 2 stories (from just our family!) of women in technology, there are women “technologists” all around us:

  • Did you know that in 2016, female students made up 19% of the Computer Science degree graduates? While this is down from the 37% of 1985, the actual number of graduates is up in relation to the total population.
  • Did you know that female students in universities across the globe today are tackling how to program AI bots for real customers to solve real problems? The solutions are being hypothesized, tested and presented to the actual customer for final approval & candidacy for graduation. As per Whitworth University.
  • Did you know that a recent study by Jobvite indicates “millennial women care more about work-life balance” than millennial men. When trying to find balance in life, most people look for ways & means to get things done faster & more efficiently. This nowadays means utilizing technology whenever possible. Altogether, the implication here is that women will create technological ways to work smarter & faster to achieve work-life balance.

I may be brogging here… (blogging & bragging) it’s just that I’m super proud to represent family and the female population. And, why not? There IS something to be said about a girl and a bot. It is being hypothesized, tested and approved. And will be shared daily.
