God Is There For Us All To See
Sometimes the evidence of God’s love comes in mysterious ways.
We don’t call for God on our best days, some people may thank him for their good fortune, but the need for his love and light is never greater than in the helplessness and darkness.
I have been helpless at times, at these times only faith in God and trust in his love and plan helped me find a lighter place.
This has given me faith to stand in the helplessness with people, I pray and trust they will come through it, and luckily lots of the time they come back and tell me how their life has improved, this doesn’t mean that life instantly improved but the person’s ability and confidence to deal with the situation improves. God’s love carries us whenever we accept it.
But there are times when the burden can feel too much, my ex is going through one of those times. Her husband was recovering from serious life-threatening back surgery when he was arrested for an offense that happened 31 years ago, he was dragged from his wheelchair and taken to prison in Oklahoma, in the month he has been in there he has fallen twice and my ex isn’t sure he will last the night.
Alone in a foreign country, she feels completely helpless and is watching her life fall to pieces. She asked for people to pray for her. I couldn’t sleep and I saw a message from her about the horrendous situation. I felt lost, she had nobody to turn to for help, or to pressure the prison into giving him the correct medical care.
I sent prayers and wished her well and finished the chat. Then the strangest thing happened when I checked my Medium account, somebody had responded to my story,
Shad Hagan, M.S. had responded, I did what I normally do and checked his profile and I was amazed, it reads “Formerly Incarcerated & Former Correctional Case Manager in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.”
This was the very person my ex needed to give her advice, I reached out on her behalf, and he passed on the details of a Facebook group that could help and support her.
Shad is a great advocate for prisoners in Oklahoma here is one of his articles.
What are the chances that he would find and comment on my article at the very moment prayers were being sent out?
Did God hear and answer our prayers? Was he there in her darkest hour? Is he there all the time but we never look for him?
Life is punishing not God.
Please add your prayers to ease the situation for all involved.
We all like to be appreciated, and I appreciate your support.
