National Nutrition Month® might just be every Dietitian’s favorite month because we get to be celebrated on March 8th for Registered Dietitian (RD) Nutritionist Day! I heard a few years ago, FroYo gave away free yogurt to RDs, how did I miss that!? Actually, this month is even more important than free yogurt because NNM is an annual campaign created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to promote healthy eating and exercise for all of March.

“The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.” -eatright.org

This year’s theme, “Put Your Best Fork Forward” goes beyond just a clever pun. The focus is on making small changes in food choices that can ultimately add up overtime and improve your health for the future.

Let’s face it, making a lot of health changes at once can be pretty overwhelming. So consider putting your best fork forward whether it means cooking more meals at home, choosing a whole grain over a refined grain, or even ordering food from the light menu next time you hit up your fav spot. Maybe you‘d like to eat one more serving of fruits and/or vegetables each day. If so…

Check out the 20 tips to enjoy more fruits and vegetables from eatright.org.

What will your next forkful be?
