Think, Reflect, Don’t Post Just Yet

Have you ever noticed how beautiful a sunset is on a fall evening? When you take your phone from your pocket to capture the sunset, somehow, sadly, it just isn’t the same as when you were admiring it with your own eyes. The awe factor is more real this way. Whenever we are faced with something beautiful or unique, we are so quick to pull out our phones to take photos or videos and post them to social media asap. Just think about it. Imagine a gorgeous sunset that has minutes before it goes away. After you admired the sunset for all of 5 seconds , your brain nudges you to post an Instagram story about the sunset. You take the photo, and spend a few minutes looking for a filter. Next, you spend another couple minutes trying to come up with the best caption. Hmm, which song lyric would go with this? Then guess what? The sun SETS, and you only got to view the actual sunset for those 5 seconds when you could have admired it the entire time and posted later. We want so badly to show other people what we are doing or what we are seeing that we fail to take that moment in and really relish in it. Truly, your followers may appreciate the photos you’ve posted of the Grand Canyon, however, there is NOTHING like actually experiencing the Grand Canyon’s massive wonders before you. So think, reflect, take in the beauty that the Lord has put before you and postpone that post! You cannot duplicate these kinds of moments.

James 4:14 (NLT) says , “Your life is like the morning fog — it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.”

So don’t miss it! Live in the moment. Explore the moment with all of your senses and post later, or don’t post at all!
