For many organizations and businesses, the COVID-19 pandemic created a unique set of challenges and problems that required equally unique and creative solutions to overcome their challenges.

For religious establishments, the single biggest challenge was finding a way which enabled followers and worshippers to safely practice their religion, without compromising on the quality of respective services or gatherings.

Argentina’s largest church, Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento, was no exception to this, facing the challenge of being able to accommodate their vast numbers of parishioners, alongside finding a way to bring religion to their followers from the comfort of their home.

This is where SALVé came to save the day by swiftly bringing Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento into the 21st Century.

Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento is located in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has over 100,000 followers. Strict lockdown measures following the arrival of the pandemic left Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento with the challenge of bringing their services to their massive following, all without breaking rules or endangering individuals’ health.

So how did SALVé help?

SALVé’s expert team worked closely with the church to develop a comprehensive online presence that could serve parishioners and allow them to attend mass virtually.

Our process began by analyzing the needs of Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento and their followers, helping us to identify the most significant challenges the church faced — the single largest barrier Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento faced was size of the church’s congregation.

Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento required a platform that could facilitate large audiences without compromising on quality.

One solution to their problem was the development and implementation of video streaming, which allowed the church to offer services via live streams, ensuring the quality of their services to be kept as high as possible under the difficult circumstances.

By partnering with a local security camera business, we were able to execute our plan, with the implementation of broadcasting technologies within the church by installing three cameras pointing in various locations inside to create an immersive experience from the comfort of home.

SALVé was then able to integrate this system within the church’s website, creating a highly accessible way for anyone to attend mass virtually.

To bring Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento into the digital era completely, SALVé then designed and built an entirely new website and webapp for the church, where the live-streamed mass was a prominent feature, as well as other new features the church hadn’t used before.

The interface of the website was designed to be incredibly easy to navigate, with highly accessible information for website traffic, as well as easy to find and operate features that all contributed to the overall user experience.

The new website helped to establish a strong digital presence for Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento, which allowed SALVé to next create various social media accounts and ultimately a social media strategy, enabling Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento to connect with a much younger audience, and in a more real-time manner.

The digital transformation for the Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento was an out and out success.

Not only have live-stream audiences seen retention at 70% two years on, Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento has seen increased donations and a steady growth of visitors, which is testament to the work of the talented team at SALVé.
