As the ecological network known as the “Gort Cloud” awakens new industries here and there, it begins to change your daily lifestyle. Whether you see yourself starting to recycle or intentionally buying products you know are good for the environment, we all have made changes for the better somewhere. What even is the “Maker movement”? well if you don’t know i suggest a great article from my colleague Alex Gentry, “What is the maker movement?”.

Makers working in “Makerspace Urbana” in Urbana, IL

“Makers around the world have been working very hard for the last 10 years, although their projects may seem scattered believe me they all have one goal, a sustainable and healthy world for all of us.”

Makers from Portland, OR to Melbourne, Australia have all been working, almost non-stop, for you. Their projects have ranged to a variety of useful ideas, they have created ways of turning old recycled plastic into 3-d printer filament (“Precious Plastics”), or also ways of turning old technology like your old computerthat sits inside your garage doing nothing but collecting dust into retro arcade machine (“Bar top Arcade”). But how does this affect your daily life? Well pretty soon those Kickstarter projects you’ve seen are actually going to start coming true. Like a climate skeptics worst nightmare, the majority of your items, whether its a wallet, an old watch, or even your car, will be up cycled into something better and smarter. Your whole life will be upgraded into something more sustainable and more intelligent, because people everywhere really cares about that happening.

You may want to test your wall of hatred for leaks because there is a tsunami of good ideas and love heading straight for it. For more information on a maker space near you check out the “Maker Space directory”.
