Summary
This week I started looking at the Map Dynamics walk-through system, a tool built internally for creating their documentation. My client as expressed a desire to use this tool for their education if at all possible, because it’s something they can host themselves and easily edit. Fortunately for me, the interface of this tool is clean and modern.

The client has provided me with a login for the tool, so I can start working with it. Although this is not a tool I’ve used before, I’m confident that it’s simple enough for me to pick up quickly.
I also determined that the main focus of my project will be the “Getting Started” portion of generating new interactive maps. This is the most vital instruction needed by the company at this time, and it will provide the chance to develop an approach and tone to use for future instruction.
Major concerns:
I need to get a good handle on the basics of the Map Dynamics tool, so that I can start organizing the structure of my module. I also need to investigate the walk-through tool more deeply so that I understand what it is capable of. Fortunately, in both respects the client has been very helpful in getting me the resources to get started, including access to an employee who knows the Map Dynamics product deeply.
