SAM-NY Chairman Michael J. Volpe today announced the endorsement of Anthony L. Shaut and Steven “Jeff” Wasserman for Chestnut Ridge Village Trustees. Created by the support of New York State voters for the historic unity ticket in the 2018 Governor’s race, SAM-NY is focused on supporting candidates who are seeking to move beyond partisan divisions and building a thriving, inclusive future for all New Yorkers.

“Anthony and Jeff’s focus on inclusion, transparency, and building a long-term strategic plan for Chestnut Ridge is exactly how SAM-NY believes policy should be made across New York State,” said SAM-NY Chair Michael Volpe. “We are honored to endorse two individuals who are dedicated to bringing their community together and we encourage all residents of Chestnut Ridge to vote Shaut and Wasserman on March 19th.”

“At a time when politics can seem more divisive than ever, we believe securing the support of a party that believes putting community above party is the way forward in our state is a sign that our campaign is on the right track,” said Chestnut Ridge Village Trustee candidates Antony L. Shaut and Steven “Jeff” Wasserman. “We look forward to working with SAM-NY and showing all of New York on March 19th what can be accomplished when candidates listen to diverse views and work to build a future that everyone can be a part of.”

SAM is the newest official political party in New York. Voters interested in a new approach to solving problems can change their registration to or enroll in SAM online at www.ny.gov/services/register-vote. Voters can go in person to the board of elections office or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act to enroll in SAM or change their party registration.

“We are honored that the SAM-NY party has endorsed us and offered us their ballot line for the March 19th Village election.,” said Shaut and Wasserman. “To have the state’s newest political party take interest in our Village election is further support for our position on the issues and our belief that there is a better way for all the residents of the Village of Chestnut Ridge to come together.”

In addition to providing much needed exposure to their campaign and the Village Election on March 19th, this endorsement confirms the democratic electoral process by ensuring that Shaut and Wasserman will be on the ballot on March 19th. Shaut and Wasserman also plan to move forward with their One Chestnut Ridge independent party line.
