Why Metal Scene Will Never Be Same again? Deftones, In Flames, Foo Fighters were scheduled to play in Paris this month.

I feel obliged to write about Paris attacks. I know it’s mainstream. Your newsfeed is full of posts of witness accounts, experts explaining what ISIL is and people with French flags over their profile pictures. But there is one detail which particularly hit me right into the heart. The feeling that scares me and makes my body shiver. It is where particularly the attack happened.

I haven’t been in Bataclan. In fact I’ve never heard of that concert venue before. But I know how it looks and feels when the lights in a music hall go down and audience starts to scream in excitement to see their favorite band coming to scene. Fan voices are getting louder when the lights come back and focus falls on musicians.

It’s scary to imagine a terror attack to happen in this atmosphere. It’s impossible to imagine people entering a gig with kalashnikovs and shooting people. It is going to be difficult to force myself to go to a concert after Paris attacks.

The tragedy touched heavy-music scene with musicians expressing their solidarity with the people of Paris. For any musician, it’s difficult to imagine how it felt for members of Eagles of Death Metal to face such a horrific terrorist attack during the performance.

GODSMACK

Sully Erna: I’m tired of this SHIT.

The front-man of Godsmack, Sully Erna has paid tribute to the victims of Paris attacks. “It doesn’t matter if they’re in another country, we’re all human beings, and these motherf — ers in ISIS, I’ve gotta tell you…I hope at some point they can wipe out that s–t and make it a f — ing parking lot. I’m tired of this s–t”

To stress how much we need peace today, Erna played song called “Serenity”:

Deftones

Chino Moreno: We came back to our hotel room to find out that we left Bataclan 15 minutes before attacks.

However the most striking coincidence was revealed just hours after the Paris tragedy. The alternative band Deftones left the concert hall just fifteen minutes before the gunmen entered Bataclan and began killing innocent music lovers.

Band members told that they came back to their hotel room and were struck by the Live pictures on the Hotel TVs showing the venue they literally just left.

The vocalist of Deftones, Chino Moreno, told on Twitter : “Thank for all your inquiries on our well being. Band/Crew all safe and accounted for at this time. Prayers for those affected in these tragic events.”

In Flames.

We walked off the stage to receive absolute terrible news.

Another coincidence. Swedish metal band, In Flames was scheduled to perform in French city of Nancy on the night after Paris attacks. The band cancelled the gig saying:

Walking off stage after a wonderful gig in Rouen only to recieve the absolute terrible news about the terror attacks in Paris

‘In Flames’ Facebook official. https://www.facebook.com/inflames/?fref=photo

In the light of the absolutely horrific events in Paris last night, we have decided to cancel tonight’s show in Nancy. We will spend the day thinking of our friends, colleagues, fans and families that were affected.

Foo Fighters.

This is crazy and it sucks.

David Grohl, front-man of Foo Fighters announced on Facebook that the band’s tour scheduled in several cities across France are cancelled due to extreme situation in Paris.

It is with profound sadness and heartfelt concern for everyone in Paris that we have been forced to announce the cancellation of the rest of our tour. In light of this senseless violence, the closing of borders, and international mourning, we can’t continue right now. There is no other way to say it. This is crazy and it sucks.

PRAY FOR PARIS

Coldplay, U2, All Shall Perish, AC/DC , Marilyn Manson, Skindred— and many others, expressed their condolences to the victims of the Paris attacks. It’s shocking for musicians to picture such a horrific act of violence on Bataclan music hall.

Many of us and band members will still need some time to ‘digest’ the event. To sort in our heads, how violent human beings can be and then understand that the violence can be eliminated only by compassion solidarity and unity.
