Annual Toy Show | MF Gallery {archived}

December 8, 2018-January 6, 2019
Opening reception: Saturday, December 8, 7–10pm

MF Gallery’s 16th Annual Toy Show brings together art toy makers working in a variety of mediums and genres… From sleek to cute, elegant, witty and scary- these toys are always affordable and make unique holiday gifts!

Inspired by He-Man style warrior figures of the 1980’s, MUSCULOIDS are the most muscular 5.5” action figures on the market! The Sucklord manufactures unlicensed bootleg action figures, packaged with layers of ironic self-mockery. Drew Maillard creates marionettes and “in-action figures” out of delicately cross-hatched paper and wood. Steve Casino’s pieces feature Pop Culture Icons reimagined as painted wooden pull-toys. Bianca Panzram’s cute and creepy plush creatures have sculpted faces and life-like eyes. Luke Reich makes super detailed resin figures of mutant zombie bikers. Michael Mararian creates needle felted sculptures of animals and quirky objects. Junker Jane’s art dolls and are made of colorful fabric and found objects. Mark Ash makes 3-D printed sculptures and toys. Walter Harris / Pop Prolific’s collaboration is a reimagining of GI Joe action figures in a 5.5” stance. Also featured are The Olive Knight, Mike Mendez, Tone Tank, MF Toys, and many more…..
