I believe children learn best in a community of learners. I believe in supporting students as they learn to be independent thinkers. I think that a school can only truly excel when all people are committed to respecting each other with clear communication and integrity. I wish to work and thrive in a school that offers opportunities for professional growth, values creativity and collaboration, and models respect for the environment and community. I believe we are here on earth to be in the service of others. Being a teacher allows me to share my gifts with others and constantly learn from students and colleagues.
In a classroom of individuals, students have differing needs. I believe that success builds on self-confidence and positive risk-taking. Through all of my work experiences, I look for ways to reach and inspire all types of learners. Getting to really know students takes time and energy. I have taught many students with different learning needs. One of my professional goals is to continue to pursue ways to foster thinking, engagement, and connections in all students.
A program rich with opportunities to play, explore, discover, find meaning, and make connections makes for a great school experience. Children spend so much time at school. I think school should be a positive time that builds knowledge, encourages good character, and sparks a quest for awareness and connections that last a lifetime.
