A New Patient Advocate Emerges Online

The Internet puts a wealth of health information at a patient’s fingertips. But even for the savviest of patients, combing through (and actually understanding) all that information can be quite a challenge.

Fortunately, there’s an emerging group of patient advocates who are lending a helping hand. They’re not caregivers in the traditional sense of the word; they’re friends, neighbors, and co-workers who simply care. According to an extensive survey we conducted, 1 in 4 Americans is now part of this new user group called digital proxies.
