New in this year, we proud to present the updated release of 3D Visioner. The product version is familiar “3D Visioner 2017" and this iteration is a maintenance release improving many things and also adding a couple of exciting features. This version is a free update for all customers of 3D Visioner 2017 subscriptions. It extends the line of 3D Visioner evolution, which we summarize in this video.

Among the “under the hood” changes we add more stability in various scenarios. For example, start-up loop is improved, video hardware reset and initialization (that happens surprisingly often) is fine-tuned to be practically error-free, eliminating famous “D3DERR” random crash. There is a better performance in various bits of run-time and overall stability. Some new features include complete support for custom angles of group and container type shapes, which enables inserting custom images and text labels into 3D scene at arbitrary positions. Text labels of shapes can be forced to be of the same color via settings checkbox. We also add a new sample drawing “Office 2016” demonstrating a large layout of the office interior with extensive use of new 3D models matching Visio 2016 version and custom banners.

Important new feature in the latest version deserves special focus — is 3D scene view control enhancement. Navigating 3D scene with the mouse is improved and became more predictable and precise with much less side rolling and skewing. Sensitivity of horizontal axis is prioritized over vertical, bringing more natural way of navigating in 3D.

In addition, very short mouse motions now invoke after-effect of “elastic” scene movement, continuing the vector of mouse movement with some fade-out time. This naturally feels as if short mouse drags push the scene rotation with some inertial movement. There is “Viscosity” parameter in Settings that is responsible for strength of this inertia factor. Setting it to 0 switches this behavior completely.

“Auto-rotation” button in top bar of 3D control will essentially toggle the inertia to 100% so it does not fade. This enables continuous rotation of 3D scene with various speed, defined by the force of initial short mouse drag. This feature may come handy for video capture of 3D scene while its rotating. Also, zoom and pan mouse functions will work just as usual while 3D is rotating!
