There are around 400 in-built 3D models inside 3D Visioner that it has out-of-the box for representing standard Visio shapes. Some of them were there for years, since earlier versions, others have been added to match new shapes in MS Visio 2016. They are neat, visually clear, and very practical to cover those daily 3D representation cases of users. But there is more.

At some point of time every user of 3D Visioner would think, “Well, this table is looking OK in 3D. But the one I wish to have in my 3D sketch is different.”. The response is Custom Models. If you need your special table, or a lamp, or a tree — you can get 3D model from anywhere and import it into 3D Visioner to assign to a certain shape. For several versions this was the story, excusing some models may or may not work, simple materials need to be used, et cetera. But now with R3 release it has become way, way better.

Professional users — designing layouts of specialized labs, warehouses, plants — need custom 3D model in their drawings too. And now for both of those categories, casual users and advanced specialists we respond with completely new level of support for custom 3D models. Yes, now you can import your model and it will be shown in 3D Visioner that well as in some good CAD application. And we mean, any model, simple, complex, textured and flipped. And you can correct colors too.

R3 release has updated 3D engine that is capable of handling 3D models and importing from OBJ format on a totally new level. Texture materials and full texture maps are supported. Format interpretation is precise, resulting in exact positioning of the model. To avoid the catch with historical 3D tools issue of which axis is the depth, Y or Z, resulting in 3D objects laying on a side instead od standing up, there is “Swap Y/Z” import option that will make your model look right regardless of how it was exported. “Color Level” allows fine-tuning the look of the model materials to appear slightly darker or lighter as needed to look great in 3D Visioner scene lights. Also the rendering performance is optimized to handle high-polygon models.

All of above just means that the 3D world is now much more open to you in 3D Visioner. As a professional designer, you can import models of your equipment and specialized objects and have your Visio drawing to accurately show them in 3D. And as daily user, you can pick any free or commecial model from some rich source of thouthands 3D models, such as www.turbosquid.com and have it in your scene.

Improvements in R3 release also gave positive boost to overall application performance. Certain design changes resulted in increased speed of Visio shape processing, steps, that are involved in every Visio shape adding and moving on the drawing, grouping, etc. This increased performance especially important for busy drawings, large scenes involving large number of shapes. Overall 3D Visioner now has better speed and less memory load in run-time.
