Another step forward in 3D Visioner evolution — 2017 R4 release has been made. Bringing some important features and notable enhancements.

Ground-centric scene view: 3D scene camera now staying parallel to the floor level regardless of rotation angle. Rotating scene is not tilting the view anywhere beyond the camera view vector. This is the most user-friendly camera mode in 3D Visioner so far.

Model-specific Base Elevation: It is now possible to set 3D object elevation as part of Shape-Model association in Shape Manager. Elevation value can be set in physical units (mm, m, cm, in, ft). This feature complements existing shape-specific Base Elevation (in “Height & Tilt” context menu) by allowing Master-specific elevation that will apply automatically for every shape instance right after a shape is placed to a drawing page.

Wall Tool: a separate button in 3D Visioner ribbon menu engages “wall building mode” — creating continuous set of wall segments. First click defines the beginning point of the first wall, the next click defines end of the first wall, and so on. Holding Control forces wall line direction in 45 degrees increments, pressing right mouse button cancels the current wall. Editing properties of a wall is possible via usual Visio features and the next wall segment will inherit the properties of the last wall.

Swappable Textures: a custom 3D model can be set to change its textures via shape properties. A shape can define what textures to be swapped as a flexible set of texture filename pairs.

Background Page Shapes: It is now possible to place any shapes to a page that is set as Background in Visio drawing. The image of the background page will be applied to the base surface of the Foreground page and the shapes put on Background page will appear in 3D scene as if they are placed on Foreground page. This allows, for example, separating walls, doors and windows from the interior, or similar logical separation of objects on the drawing by allowing splitting shapes on different pages while retaining the common 3D view.

WiseViewer support for textured 3D models: It is now possible to export a 3D scene from 3D Visioner and view it perfectly intact with the lightweight WiseViewer on any PC not requiring MS Visio installation. Custom 3D models will be shown correctly, including textured models. Also, WiseViewer uses the same floor-aligned camera and supports rotation inertia and continuous rotating mode as 3D Visioner.
