Since the big release of Apple’s iPhone X last year, there has been a gentle flow of phones with notches from several smartphones manufacturers, as well as Nokia, OPPO, OnePlus, and Leagoo. In fact, even Google’s future pixel handsets are expected to sport a notch, with the corporate also formally stating support for it in its Android P developer previews.

That said, Google has currently announced that while it is fine to own one or maybe 2 display cutouts in Android devices, having more over than that will be not permitted.

In a journal post on its Android Developers site, Google describes how developers will modify their app’s code in order to include up to 2 notches, and displays with 18:9 or more aspect ratios. the corporate explained how it had created it easier for developers to utilize the cutout space with efficiency in android P, and also motivate them to test out their apps in an android P device or the Android emulator before publication.

More significantly for device makers, Google ordered down the following rules relating to display cutouts:

you will not see multiple cutouts on a single edge, or more over 2 cutouts on a device. you will not see a cutout on the left or right long fringe of the device.

Breaking news for Samsung Galaxy and Note users -

Samsung has planned to release their new Galaxy Note 9 on August 9th, and it’s going to be epic, chances are high for some more surprise so we heard some rumors going on about Samsung is planning to offer there updates through Samsung smart switch app, android Oreo updates for some smartphones will be on smart switch so keep an eye on Smart switch. If you don’t know what is Samsung smart switch is then its an app that allows you to transfer all your data to another smartphone or tablet quickly, and you can transfer data to your PC if you have samsung smart switch apk app installed on your desktop or laptop.

Since we have not seen any android device with more over than one notch, for now, each of the above restrictions is rather fascinating.

It is also vital to notice that Google has very little control over the kind of Android devices that companies build, therefore the restrictions are a lot like warnings for device-makers. It’s extremely possible that we’ll see corporations attempting to try and do unique and totally different with display cutouts, even perhaps going over Google’s suggested limit, however, they will need to keep in mind the danger because the apps are designed for 2 notches mostly.
