PSA: Say no to AI-generated images

We need a strict no-AI-generated-images policy on the sites, blogs, forums, and Discord servers. AI art is not here to stay, and we can stop AI art from destroying industries. And no, we are not anti-tech. We need to support human artists (of which I am one), not AI artists. I will give you a tutorial on how to prevent your artwork from being trained with AI technologies. AI cannot draw hands or feet properly and also messes up or destroys the text and logos! If we can’t stop them, we will mass-report AI artists and take them offline. Open letter to AI artists: purchase an XP-Pen Artist Display 15.6 Pro (or a Kamvas Pro 16), and download either Medibang, Krita, or FireAlpaca (if you have already purchased Clip Studio Paint EX 2.0/3.0, use that program), or leave the internet at once.

First, let’s start with Adobe:

Adobe

Go to https://account.adobe.com/privacy (requires an Adobe account), scroll down to “Content analysis,” and set the “Allow my content to be analyzed by Adobe for product improvement and development purposes” switch to “Off.” One simple task, and you’re safe.

ArtStation

On ArtStation, make sure the “NoAI Tagging” is ticked. ArtStation has more information about the use of NoAI tagging on projects. If you have any previous projects you’ve posted to ArtStation, don’t forget to add the “NoAI” tag on your previous projects. Repeat the process until all your previous projects are tagged with “NoAI.”

Pixiv

Pixiv does have information addressing AI-generated work. Set the AI-generated work as “No” when you post your artwork. Also, remember to repeat the process with your previous artwork. In your account settings, set the AI-generated artwork to “Display fewer.”

Sketchfab

See the post here. Just add the “NoAI” tag on your Sketchfab models and repeat the same process for all your models. If you would like to designate all of your past and future uploads as “NoAI,” head over to your account settings and check the box marked “Add “NoAI” meta tags to all uploads”.

Discord

Just establish a strict “no-AI-generated-images” policy on your server’s rules that you own or moderate. You can find anti-AI-art bots for your server to detect any/all AI-generated images.

It is recommended that you do not use any AI-generated images as models, and it is also recommended that you do not use any AI-generated images on your blog posts. That’s why I never do that, and you shouldn’t do that either. Use Unsplash, Pixabay, and Pexels for your blog posts. If you have a DeviantArt account, block these AI nerfherders. If you don’t have a DeviantArt account anymore, there’s no need for it.

You can still donate to the Concept Art Association on GoFundMe so we can get some lobbying done and actual laws passed. I do not use any AI-generated algorithms to create my art and do not condone the unauthorized usage of copyrighted art to train AI datasets or the use of AI machine learning to generate content emulating any artist’s style without the written permission of that artist.

If you see any AI-generated images/videos, please report any/all AI-generated images/videos to the sites’ trust and safety team officials or notify the people in charge (specifically, the art and webcomic Discord servers’ administrators and moderators, the art and webcomic Facebook Group administrators and moderators, Newgrounds Art Portal officials, etc.). Are AI artists real artists? The definitive answer? “Nope!” AI art isn’t real art; it’s theft! We don’t support AI-generated art. Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, and DALL-E can all go to hell for all we care. We need to take action to shut down any or all AI-art-related Facebook groups and Discord servers. That way, we can stop these AI-generated nerfherders who give everyone nightmares when we sleep each night and have big-name companies start reconsidering generative AI so that the image rehearsal therapists won’t face very long lines of people who have nightmares. We want everyone to be less interested in AI art, and we don’t want any licensed therapists to face a massive catalog of long lines of people who have experienced nightmares.

If you see someone commenting that “AI (art) is here to stay” or any of the blog posts on Medium (including YouTube) including DALL-E/Midjourney tutorials, please report the stories or accounts to the Medium Trust and Safety team immediately. If you have reported any Facebook groups that contain AI-generated images to the Facebook/Meta officials, please tell the Facebook group administrators not to use AI-generated programs anymore, establish a strict no AI-generated images policy, and encourage them to use free art programs such as MediBang, FireAlpaca, and Krita to create artworks.

If you have a portfolio or a blog and you’d like the very portfolio or blog of yours to indicate that you do not use AI-generated images on your portfolio or blog, you can go to the No-AI-Icon website to get your icons (read the instructions first after you display your no-AI icon; you can also use the text link like this to link to the statement if you do not wish to use the No-AI icons or your portfolio or blog does not allow the use of the icons).

Please help support human artists and help reduce the dreaded AI tools. Pick up a pencil (or a digital screen tablet like XP-Pen or Huion) as we do.

Thanks for your understanding,

Cory Roberts.

Responses are disabled in this story to prevent these nerfherders.
