Hello there, here are the main characters of the upcoming series I’m working on! The trio consists of Daisuke Ninomiya (die-soo-keh nee-NO-MEE-ya), Hikari Kitayama (hee-KAR-ee kee-TA-ya-ma), and Keiji “Yohan” Matsumoto (kay-JEE ma-TSOO-moh-toh), three brave teenage Kyokushin karateka residing in Tokyo who got the call from the Interpol to stop the Wild Mondo from destroying the world. While they have elemental powers as they are not destructive saviors, the trio rarely use motorbikes or public transportation as they are familiar with traveling on foot, similar to that of Pokémon and other popular anime, manga, and video games where the main protagonist and his friends walk the earth (except for airplanes).

The precocious, heroic trio is known for wearing and fighting in late 1990s and Y2K streetwear, such as baggy tank tops (sports bras for Hikari) that have the Y2K globe symbol on the front, baggy jeans (baggy shorts for Yohan), black tube socks, and sneakers with chunky laces that are always worn loose (Daisuke and Hikari: red and black Vans Knu Skool; Yohan: white and black Adidas Superstar XLG), allowing them to remove their sneakers with ease while entering homes, temples, or other places where shoes are prohibited, at all times. They sometimes wear blue Havaianas-inspired flip-flops. The trio is always seen wearing the same clothes in various events (such as Sneaker Con and gaming events such as the Tokyo Game Show). None of the main characters are vigilantes, instead, they have a Kyokushin karate license (or similar, such as the Jeet Kune Do license and the capoeira license) and always have connections with the ICPO. Daisuke and his two best friends prefer to use (and be addressed with) the “-san” honorific rather than the “-kun,” “-tan,” or “-chan” honorific, as they are always immune to heat and cold and can fly (but they sometimes use public transportation such as on a plane or a train, as the trio prefers to walk the earth).

Daisuke Ninomiya

Daisuke Ninomiya (二宮 ダイスケ Ninomiya Daisuke) is the 17-year-old main protagonist of the series. He is a Kyokushin karateka and adventurer of Japanese and American descent who prefers to fight in ultra-baggy streetwear and sneakers instead of a traditional karate uniform. He has a brave, precocious, and friendly personality that dislikes those who harm people in front of him (including women and children) and sibling rivalries. At age eleven, Daisuke left home for an adventure with his two best friends, Hikari and Yohan, after obtaining a Kyokushin karate license when his parents and uncle encouraged him to go on an adventure. He also owns the Technopreme clothing company (a portmanteau of Techno and Supreme), specializing in ultra-baggy streetwear, and a private dojo at his large condo. Daisuke and his best friend Yohan were trained in Kyokushin karate by their master Takeshi, and the two often sparred with each other. He took the young Hikari under his wing like a little sister, and is uninterested in wearing tight clothes such as skinny jeans.

Appearance

Daisuke is 5 feet 7 inches tall (168 cm), weighs 149 pounds (68 kg), and has spiky blond hair, tanned skin, and green eyes. He wears a red ultra-baggy heavyweight tank top with a Y2K globe symbol on the front, black and red fingerless gloves, and JNCO-inspired baggy jeans. On his feet, he wears black tube socks and red and black Vans Knu Skool sneakers.

At age eleven, he wore the same ultra-baggy red heavyweight tank top, red wristbands, the same baggy jeans (which are rolled up to the calves to show his high-top sneakers), yellow socks, and red Chuck Taylor All-Star high-top sneakers with untied laces.

Hikari Kitayama

Hikari Kitayama (北山 ヒカリ Kitayama Hikari) is the 14-year-old main female protagonist and one of Daisuke’s best friends. A red-haired girl who is a brave, friendly, and precocious tomboy, she is a Kyokushin karateka with electric powers and a vintage tech genius. Both of Hikari’s parents died in a car crash when she was eight years old, so she often looks up to Daisuke, who took her in, raised her, and trained her in Kyokushin karate and taught her how to overcome her fears such as vehicles, heights, airplanes, and the dark while she was traveling to New York City with her best friend’s family (consisting of his father, his mother, his uncle, and Daisuke himself) since they were young. Hikari used to be shunned by her peers because she had trouble with her electric powers and couldn’t fight before she met Daisuke by noticing his oversized, oft-untied red sneakers, as the two have been wearing the same red sneakers since they were children. Hikari has a very high IQ and can tinker and repair vintage computers and video game consoles that her two best friends, including herself, can use, and she prefers to wear baggy jeans and sneakers like her idol Daisuke.

Appearance

Hikari is 4 feet 9 inches tall (146 cm) and weighs 121 lbs (55 kg), and has long red hair tied in a ponytail with fringe/bangs on each side (when she wears it down, her hair is kept in a wild manner when she wears an oversized black New York Knicks-inspired baseball cap backwards, similar to Silent Bob and Jo McCormick from Big Bad Beetleborgs) and green eyes. She wears a green sports bra with a Y2K globe symbol on the front, black and green fingerless gloves, and JNCO-inspired baggy jeans. On her feet, she wears black tube socks and red and black Vans Knu Skool sneakers (though she does wear Havaianas-inspired flip-flops in her workshop).

At age eight, she wore the same oversized baseball cap backwards (while her hair is worn down), a green and blue striped tank top, green wristbands, and ultra-baggy overalls with the left strap undone (similar to Coco Bandicoot from Crash Bandicoot franchise), red and blue striped socks, and red Chuck Taylor All-Star high-top sneakers with untied laces. The outfit she wore is based on the girl on the June 1995 cover of the Family PC magazine.

Keiji “Yohan” Matsumoto

Keiji Matsumoto (松本 ケイジ Matsumoto Keiji), better known as Yohan (ヨハン), is an 18-year-old chubby Kyokushin karateka with wind powers and one of Daisuke’s best friends as well as his sparring partner. He is of Japanese and Brazilian descent and is the heir to his father’s dojo. He can blow his enemies away by creating mini-tornadoes and executing his tornado kick. Yohan has a serious and brave personality, cares about his family and his two best friends, Daisuke and Hikari, and is also intelligent. He and Daisuke were trained in Kyokushin karate by his father Takeshi, as the two have often sparred with each other since they were young when they first met at ASIJ’s high school division at the ages of twelve and eleven, respectively, and have remained very close ever since. Yohan often shows his two best friends what a real chubby Kyokushin karateka can do, as he can perform handstands and kick very high without any problems. He lives with his two best friends since his father suggested that he leave home for an adventure.

Appearance

Yohan is 6 feet 4 inches tall (192 cm), towering over the other characters including his parents, weighs 174 lbs (79 kg), has spiky blue hair, blue eyes, and a large cross-shaped scar on his left shoulder (a nod to Himura Kenshin). He wears a blue ultra-baggy heavyweight tank top with the Y2K symbol on the front, black and light blue fingerless gloves, and ultra-baggy jean shorts. On his feet, he wears black tube socks and white and black Adidas Superstar XLG sneakers.

At age twelve, he wore the same ultra-baggy blue heavyweight tank top, blue wristbands, the same shorts, blue tube socks, and black Chuck Taylor All-Star high-top sneakers with untied laces.
