You don’t need to go to an art school to be successful

Many of us have read how-to-draw anime and manga books and also obtained art books as teenagers before we entered college. The drawback of art and design school take up at least four years of your life. This is something that is just not possible for many people, especially if they don’t have the financial capacity.

There are a lot of how-to-draw manga books that can be purchased at Amazon, including dynamic poses and buildings. A lot of us have watched anime such as Pokémon, Digimon, Dragon Ball, Tenchi Muyo!, the Gundam series, Outlaw Star, and other anime series we grew up with — including video games such as Street Fighter, Jet Set Radio Future, Streets of Rage, Sonic the Hedgehog series, and others, and also read manga series such as Bleach, but there weren’t any language-learning apps during that time as we only had GeoCities, Angelfire, and Tripod websites (GeoCities was closed in 2009 overseas and 2019 in Japan, and Angelfire and Tripod are still active but no longer offer free webpages).

Do we really need to take online courses? No. Just no. We are actually self-taught. Check what they have improved since they started their art and/or webcomic journeys and they will know that they don’t need a disability case manager or a support coordinator who comes in either monthly or quarterly at all.

You don’t need a day job either, or a retail job.

Most of us are self-taught artists since many of us refused to go to an art school. When attending an art school, they’ll ask you to change your art style or teach you how to draw a nude figure and other basics, which is pretty boring. We do have our own creative studios at home, as many of us often work from home which makes us a lot of money. Do we need to work in some dreary office or a retail store? No. We don’t need that crap, but we do have Patreon and Ko-fi to support ourselves so we can move out of our parents’ trailer before they retire.

I never held any day jobs except for working at my father’s painting company before I struck out on my own. Most of my time is spent on creating artwork and manga on Clip Studio Paint since I upgraded to the XP-PEN Artist 24 Pro. I don’t hoard a lot of free fonts anymore as I did on my old Windows 7 laptop, since it couldn’t handle any commercial fonts due to Microsoft ending support for it, which happened in early 2020 before I got an iMac to replace my laptop. There’s also this article on Creative Market.

They will know that I’m not any of the following:

  • an online lurker
  • an internet troll
  • a stone-cold loser with no talent
  • an unemployed individual
  • a low-IQ individual who doesn’t have a clue
  • a total low-life with zero credibility
  • a pro-conservative person
  • a pro-religious person
  • a fundamentalist or conservative Christian
  • affiliated with political parties
  • a Japanese citizen (but does speak the language)
  • a Trump/DeSantis supporter

and they will know that I’m definitely one of the following:

  • a freelance illustrator, manga artist, and character designer who spends a lot of hours interacting with fellow creators/artists and drawing stuff
  • a straight ally male who hates being single
  • an American citizen
  • a Mac user
  • an iPhone user
  • an atheist

You know who you are! But you will say to me, “Why do you want to have the characters in modern settings, such as wearing 1990s and Y2K fashion and sneakers such as Vans, Nikes, and Converse?” They think I’m a badass motherf****r who has no emotion.

I hope this is some help so you can stop the support coordinator program and the disability case manager instead of living off laziness. See you later.
