Theme: Across many countries it’s the season for cosy fires, hot chocolate, snow and more. For this VoxEdit contest we want you to create Festive or Winter themed assets. Maybe that’s Jolly St Nick on the Australian beach in swimshorts and a board, to Igloos, Ice Sculptures, Snowmen, Presents, Wreaths etc. Unleash your creativity this season and craft Festive or Winter themed assets.
Make sure to check out our special prize categories as well if you fancy a challenge.

Regular Category

15,000 SAND will be split amongst the top entries in the following ways :

1st place: 6,000 SAND + Gold Catalyst Pack
2nd place: 3,500 SAND + Silver Catalyst Pack
3rd place: 2000 SAND + Bronze Catalyst Pack
4th to 10th place : Each receives 500 SAND.

Beginner Category

5,000 SAND will be split amongst the top entries in the following ways:

1st place: 1,500 SAND + Silver Catalyst Pack
2nd place: 1,000 SAND + Bronze Catalyst Pack
3rd place: 750 SAND + Bronze Catalyst Pack
4th to 10th place: each receives 250 SAND.

Special Prize Categories 🎁

There will be some additional prize categories participants can place in.
Winners for the below Categories will be 300 SAND unless stated otherwise.

Newbie: Honorable Mention to New Participant
The Grinch: Best non-Christmas entry
CF Prom Night: Prize for the best entry from a CF artists who didn’t win in another category
No Retreat, No Surrender: Prize for a participant who always or almost always takes part in contests but hasn’t won yet
Frozen: Best non-animated asset
A Toy Story: Best Toy Character
Outside the Gift Box: The most creative take on the theme.
Decembers Fool: The Funniest Entry
1 Mystery Category: 100 SAND
Participation : 25 SAND**

*SAND prizes will now be sent on Polygon network.
** Participation prize is limited to first 100 outside of the top 10 in the winning categories.

Catalyst Packs
Gold: 15 Rare, 100 Uncommon, 100 Common
Silver: 5 Rare, 50 Uncommon, 80 Common
Bronze: 50 Uncommon, 50 Common

IMPORTANT: KYC is needed to Earn SAND rewards. You’ll need to be KYCd prior to the results announcement date.

⚠️Important Entry Guidelines

To be eligible for the Beginners category, you must have not placed in the top 10 of the Regular VoxEdit contests, or not placed in the top 5 of the Beginners category at all.
Users can submit to both categories but if they go to voting in the Regular category they won’t be eligible for the Beginners one.
Low quality entries or spammed entries with no effort put into their creation will be disqualified at The Sandbox’s discretion. The same goes for attempting to claim other people’s creations as your own — we’ll know.
Entries containing elements of any kind of discriminative or overly sexualised nature will be disqualified from the contest. Keep it family friendly.
Your submission must be original, made entirely by you. You cannot make an ASSET of a character that belongs to someone else (ie, Marvel, Disney, Sega etc).
Your entry must be made in The Sandbox’s free VoxEdit software (click here), available on Windows and Mac.
Make sure you have read and understood the VoxEdit Contest Guidelines.
Assets should not exceed more than 5000 faces.
Assets should not exceed a max of 175 nodes.
The maximum size of an asset is 512 voxels tall (16 meters). Floor print should not exceed 512 x 512 x 512. Including animation.
You can submit more than one entry.
Voting will be conducted internally by The Sandbox team.
By participating you agree Sandbox can use your entry artwork for promotional purposes.

💯Judging Criteria

Your asset will be judged based on the 6 criteria below. Each criterion follows a scale of 1 to 5, 1 being “very poor” and 5 being “very good”.

Creativity (How creative was the asset based on the theme?)
Usability (Versatility, different uses/ scale / Good collider interactions / Multiple animations).
Optimisation (Does this asset look optimised in Sandbox Game? Low face and node count is more optimised).
Aesthetics (Geometry, shape / Proportion / Colour Palette / Texture / Level of detail).
Quality of Animation (Was new animations added? Flow of the animation).
Level of Complexity (How difficult is the asset to make)
