Introducing The Sandbox Alpha

In this article, we will guide you through the steps that will give you the best shot to be part of The Sandbox Alpha! This is an historic milestone for The Sandbox. You’ll want to be part of it.
“The Sandbox Alpha? Sounds cool! But… what does it mean?”
Allow us to explain!
What is The Sandbox Alpha?
The Sandbox Alpha is an open multi-week Play-to-Earn event starting on November 29 at 1PM UTC, in which players will have the opportunity to explore The Sandbox Metaverse for the first time, through 18 experiences created by The Sandbox’s teams.
The Alpha Pass is an NFT ticket that will allow players to completely explore the 18 experiences of the Alpha Season content and earn up to 1,000 $SAND and three exclusive NFT rewards.
Players without an Alpha Pass will still be able to access three full experiences and the Alpha HUB, a central multiplayer experience showcasing a range of locations, and quests, not to mention the chance to connect with other players from our amazing community. However, they will not be able to earn Play-to-Earn rewards.

What can I earn in The Alpha?
Owners of the Alpha Pass will have the opportunity to earn a selection of:
- 1,000 SAND for completing all objectives of the Alpha.
- 3 exclusive The Sandbox Alpha NFTs which will only be available during the Alpha.
In order to be eligible for the rewards, you have to complete a series of objectives, and complete the Alpha Season.
How can I get an Alpha Pass NFT?
There are three different ways you can get an Alpha Pass NFT:
- The Alpha Raffle (for LAND Owners only):
If you are a LAND Owner in The Sandbox, we would like to thank you, by offering you a chance to win one of the 1,000 Alpha Passes we reserved for our VIPs. Complete these steps for your chance to win: Be a LAND Owner to be eligible to register for the Alpha Pass Raffle.
- Register for the Alpha Raffle from November 22 at 13:00 UTC to November 28 at 13:00 UTC on The Sandbox website or check the details at the end of this article.
- Every LAND you own will give you one more chance to win. So if you want a few more chances to win your Alpha Pass, this is the time to keep all your LANDS in the same basket!
- The winners will receive their Alpha Pass on November 29, the day The Sandbox Alpha Season begins.
2. The Daily Social Contests:
Once the Alpha opens, anyone with a Sandbox account will be able to participate in our daily social contests to win an Alpha Pass. More than 750 Alpha Passes will be given away every week for three weeks.

3. Purchase an Alpha Pass on OpenSea:
Some Alpha Pass owners may decide to sell the NFT on OpenSea. You can verify if that’s the case by heading over to OpenSea between November 29 and December 19th. The Sandbox team won’t be selling any Alpha Pass on OpenSea. You can purchase one there only if an Alpha Pass owner is willing to sell it.
Important notice: Do not purchase an Alpha Pass on OpenSea after December 20, 15:00PM UTC as the Alpha Season will then be closed and you will not be able to claim the Alpha Rewards of the Pass anymore.
*(If you are based in Japan, you won’t be able to own an Alpha Pass due to local Play-to-Earn regulations — but you can still join the fun in the Alpha Hub!)
When will the Alpha launch?
Get ready to add this date to your calendar. Chisel it in stone:
- November 29 is the day The Sandbox Alpha Hub launches.
- One new experience will be released every weekday until the Alpha Season closes on December 20 for a total of 18 experiences.

Who can access the Alpha?
Players without an Alpha Pass will have access to three Alpha experiences, as well as the Alpha Hub — a central experience showcasing a range of experiences, locations, and quests — not to mention the chance to connect with other players from our amazing community.
However, Alpha Pass NFT holders will be able to go beyond these three experiences and receive access to our exclusive Play-to-Earn rewards of 1000 $SAND and three NFTs, as well as exploring 18 gaming experiences across the Alpha Map, with the ability to track their progress.
*(Again, if you are based in Japan you won’t be able to own an Alpha Pass due to local Play-to-Earn regulations — but you can still join the fun in the Alpha Hub.)
Claiming your Alpha Pass NFT
Once the registration window closes on November 28 at 13:00 UTC, the text below your avatar will change to Raffle Draw in Progress.
After the random raffle draw, the selected winners will be greeted with a pop-up congratulating them on being one of the lucky thousand!
On the same pop-up, there will be a button to “Claim the Pass”. Go ahead and click it.
Don’t worry if you accidentally close the window, though. You will still be able to claim your Alpha Pass by clicking the button below your Avatar on the Alpha page.
From here, your wallet (such as MetaMask) will ask for permission to process the request. Please be aware that you will need at least a little bit of ETH available to cover the gas fees.
Once approved, that’s it. Your Alpha Pass NFT will be on its way to you.
Please note that after you claim the ticket, it can take a few minutes for the claim to be processed and the ticket to appear in your inventory. So, hang tight. You are getting closer to the Alpha experiences.
Didn’t win an Alpha Pass?
If you entered the raffle but didn’t win an Alpha Pass, you will get a pop-up notification after the draw, to make sure you aren’t left hanging.
With a limited amount of Alpha Passes to share among a thriving community of awesome creators, LAND Owners, and players, there are bound to be some people who miss out on the Alpha Passes.
