As our Marketplace is being filled with thousands of assets created by artists who joined through our creator fund, The Sandbox keeps developing and improving features to spark the creativity of players as they customize their LAND. In particular, the animation system of VoxEdit keeps improving as essential tools to enhance the experience of creators when animating are being developed.
From featured assets on The Sandbox marketplace that will encourage artists to create amazing NFTs, to important customization tools that will provide players an intuitive way to create unique experiences, here are the latest developments The Sandbox team has been working on.

The Sandbox Game
Terrain paint tool
The Paint tool will enable the use of any selected blocks — both the blocks already available on a LAND or ones owned by the player — to replace any patch of terrain with the selected blocks.
Taking into consideration the quantity of selected block, this tool will replace and paint terrain with an aleatory consistency to appear natural and also fit the rest of the terrain if applied to an already existing terrain.
The Paint tool will enable players to intuitively customize their LAND at will as one of the many tools and features offered in The Sandbox.
While our Marketplace displays a large variety of categories from which you can choose, including the type of NFTs that you want — Avatars, for example — and the biomes they are meant to be part of, one of the latest additions is the ability to feature special assets.
Assets can be selected for display in a special category of the marketplace that will appear first on the main page. The selection of the special assets will differ depending on different occasions, such as contests, community events, remarkable high quality assets, and favorites from the community.
While the user’s account will privately store and publish their assets and animations, there will be a public page to display any voxel creations produced within VoxEdit that are published on the Marketplace. Within the public pages, you will be able to follow artists you add as favorites and then receive notifications on the news feed if they upload any new NFTs.
With the objective of providing essential tools that will enable the creation of fluid, polished, and defined animations, we are now developing inverse kinematics for VoxEdit. This essential development for animations, which is one of the most requested tools by the artists using VoxEdit, will provide creators that are new to animations an easy and intuitive tool. Experienced artists, on the other hand, will be provided with a familiar and essential tool to create advanced and very detailed animations within our editor.
This tool creates a constraint for joints attached to a rigged skeleton. The models that are part of the skeleton have customizable pivots that select the position where the joints are attached to each other. Inverse kinematics will restrict the movement joints until it reaches the maximum distance of its attached joint. This prevents breaking of the skeleton, providing the possibility of dragging a joint as the rest of the skeleton follows.
