Softstar Entertainment explains its new experience in the Lunar New Year season — Sword and Fairy

In this episode, we invite Softstar Entertainment to share details of the experience appearing in the Lunar New Year Season and to explain what we need to know before immersing ourselves in this unique game environment.

What is Sword and Fairy?

Sword and Fairy is a role-playing game (RPG) developed by the Taiwanese company Softstar Entertainment. The game incorporates elements of wuxia (martial arts heroes), shenhua (myth and fiction) and fantasy. Since its release in 1995, the game has spiraled into a successful franchise in Chinese-Speaking Areas. It was also adapted for the 2005 Chinese television show Chinese Paladin. The series launched its 10th sequel Sword and Fairy 7 in 2021. It is known as a classical Chinese love story combined with martial arts heroes. We are very proud to present this famous gaming series in the metaverse and to re-create it in The Sandbox style so that it becomes known to a wider audience in the Chinese-Speaking communities.

Why enter The Sandbox metaverse?

Softstar always aims to be innovative and visionary. We believe that WEB 3.0 is the future of internet development and by partnering with The Sandbox, we want to leverage our Intellectual Properties (IPs) and create new WEB 3.0 content. The Sandbox voxel style gives us freedom and flexibility to re-create our original content and showcase our IPs to a global audience.

Tell us more about the experience and what Softstar Entertainment is building in the Metaverse?

Built on a 2x2 plot of LAND, the Softstar MetaPark presents an unprecedented mythical Wuxia experience.

The experience is set in a traditional Wuxia style. Upon entering the game you immediately travel into a world of glorious Kungfu nostalgia as your avatar is guided through a Chinese landscape consisting of inns, towns, and maze-like wilderness. In the game, you can complete the quests with classic heroic characters like Li Xiaoyao, Zhao Ling’er and Lin Yueru from the Sword and Fairy series. These characters are transformed into non-playing assets and the storyline becomes an extension of the original PC game adventure in order to give players a fully immersive experience.

What is the most exciting part of this experience?

This experience restores part of the original storyline and classic scenes from the collections, bringing legendary and iconic PC game characters into the new Web3.0 space. These characters have played a significant role in the childhood of many players, and we hope that the restored experience will help to pass fond memories on to the next generation of gamers.

This Softstar MetaPark is also a tribute to all our players who possess RichMan Heroes. As a mark of thanks for their continuing support, we are striving to provide more fun games and experiences in the future!
