What would constitute a perfect day for you?

When did you last sing to yourself?

For what in your life do you feel most grateful?

What is one of the most embarrassing moments in your life?

These and a couple dozen more questions were continuously asked from one to another of the 120 people from every continent that gathered this week at a majestic piece of the Panamanian forest named Kalu Yala.

The answers became a map into the souls of some of the most purposeful individuals I’ve ever witnessed sharing a meal or swimming in a river. Every single shared memory of despair, joy, wisdom, curiosity and desire acted as a powerful healing drug and then became a gentle push into a worthier personal and communal future.

I am profoundly grateful to every single one of you –the spirited citizens of the jungle– for giving me the keys to your hearts and minds, and for leaving the table set and the fire warm. I hereby pledge to become an evermore genuine, more helpful citizen of our global polis.

Onwards my dear Thousanders, onwards.
