Roasted Vada Pav

Vada Pav is most popular street food of Mumbai. The pav is homemade and the vadas are roasted using a appe maker, which makes it healthy and flavorful. A child as well as an old person will relish this delicacy.



3 ½ cups wheat flour

½ cup maida/plain flour

11/2 teaspoon instant yeast

½ teaspoon sugar

salt to taste

2 table spoon olive oil

2 cups lukewarm water


4 potatoes (boiled)

4 green chillies

Small piece of ginger

Salt to taste

1 table spoon lemon juice

½ tsp red chilli powder

1 table spoon Cilantro cumin powder

Chopped coriander leaves


1 cup gram flour

salt to taste

1 teaspoon red chilli powder

¼ teaspoon turmeric powder

1 tablespoon oil

Garlic chutney

15 garlic cloves

1 tablespoon red chilli powder

2 tablespoon lemon juice

1 tablespoon coriander cumin powder

Other Ingredients

chopped onion

1 tablespoon butter



Add yeast and sugar in 1/2 cup lukewarm water

Leave it for 10 minutes

In a mixing bowl add both flour

Add salt to taste, Mix it

Add yeast mixture

Add 1 table spoon

Make a dough adding remaining lukewarm water as required to make semi-soft dough

Cover it

Leave it for 4 hours

Dough will double in size

Sprinkle some flour on your platform

Knead it

Make 2 inch balls

Arrange them in a greased baking tray

Leave for 1/2 hour

preheated oven at 375* and bake for 20 to 25 minutes

Cool them

Garlic chutney

Add all the ingredients for the chutney to mixer and crush them by gradually adding water until it becomes a paste

Batter for vadas

Mix all the ingredients

Make batter by adding water

The batter should be smooth and thick enough to coat the vadas.


Mash potatoes mix all the ingredients

Make balls

Dip them in batter

Roast them on Appe maker adding oil

Roast it on both sides

Assembling Vada Pav

Slit the bun from middle

Apply garlic chutney

Sprinkle onions

Place one vada in Pav

Add butter to the pan and roast the pav

Make all the Vada Pavs
