Sean Spicer and the Lubrication of Fame
It’s as if the evil never even happened

Fame. That’s all we really care about. That’s why Spicer gets a goddamn victory lap for being the modern-day Goebbels. It gets clicks/people are talking/so therefore it’s the right thing to do. And a roomful of Hollywood do-gooder liberals all yuk it up because, y’know, cameras. He was on TV a lot and THAT IS WHAT REALLY MATTERS.
And this is why the rest of society is so outraged. They know Spicer and Susan Sarandon wind up at the same after-party. They know that Ivanka, Kellyanne, Spielberg, and George Soros all frolic together in the Hamptons. There are no principles. It’s lecture circuits and book tours and consulting gigs and it’s as if the evil never even happened. Remember how Bush made us a country who tortures? Now he looks goofy in a rain poncho and dances on Ellen.
It’s all an outrage mirage. In 10 years, Zucker and Trump eat steak at a country club and Donnie says, “We gave ’em a good show, didn’t we?” And then they’ll laugh and laugh.
We’ve been seduced by the machine. It’s the lubrication of fame. DC is Hollywood for ugly people. And Hollywood is DC for people who think selfies are art.
