a hurricane and its aftermath (11 days in the cold and dark)
I’m sitting here in my tiny suburban home in New Jersey — far enough away from family on Long Island where I grew up to make helping out…
some strong willed flowers, post sandy.
this is not the early november you’re looking for.
who ordered this on top of a hurricane?
there is bread under that snow.
just when we were exhaling from sandy, the snow started.
day 9. maybe 10. lost count.
sandy wiped out the last remnants of a too short autumn.
the flowers made it through the hurricane and seem to have made it through the snowstorm as well.
the day after the snow storm, my parents - we had been staying at their house for warmth - lost power.
it was supposed to be a light flurry. and we were supposed to get our power back that night. we didn’t.
it was about day ten of no power when the snow came down.
sandy and the blizzard and the blackness and the cold has no stories yet
