Earth Day 2024
“There isn’t a place on Earth untouched by plastic.”
Regardless of whether or not there is much cause for optimism about the environment, its ecosystems, and the planet’s greenest practices this Earth Day, there is at the very least a cause for agency. I know I don’t have a large platform or anything, but I wanted to spread the love for Earth Day! The theme of 2024’s edition of the holiday for many environmental organizations and animal protection services is curbing pollution, specifically as it relates to plastic. As such, I just wanted to share Oceana’s mission, which can be found and learned more about by clicking on any of the words in this sentence (not the punctuation, though). Here is the copy from their website:
“Found floating on the ocean’s surface, washing up on the most remote coastlines, melting out of Arctic Sea ice, and sitting on the deepest points of the ocean floor, plastic pervades every corner of the Earth.
To put it simply: there is no Earth with no ocean. But you can help! Your donation on Earth Day will go right to work to combat these issues that threaten our oceans and our planet.”
It’s always great to support the planet and all the innocent life that inhabits it. Earth Day is just a great excuse to do so! Happy Earth Day!
