SAP America has been confirmed as the Platinum Sponsor for the SAE World Congress Experience (WCX), which takes place in Detroit, Michigan. Long-heralded the heart of the auto industry, Motor City is the fitting home for WCX this year as they introduce a new event, Connect2Car.

Attendees now have the opportunity to listen to thought leaders and forward thinkers from across the industry as they discuss connected vehicles, info-safety, open-source software and driverless technologies, and infotainment. Over 11,000 professionals representing the wide range of specialties in automotive and mobility engineering will also be in attendance. The event will feature:

Connect2Car also offers a special event, known as SAE Connected Vehicle Challenge 2018. The challenge offers participants the opportunity to propose, build, and demonstrate an innovative connected-vehicle device, system, or application that demonstrates how vehicle connectivity can contribute to improving mobility, quality of life of individuals and communities, and the environment. Participants compete against engineers from around the world for a chance to win up to $10,000.

As a part of its Platinum level sponsorship, SAP will be providing participants of SAE Connected Vehicle Challenge 2018 access to SAP Build. Through this application, users learn, prototype, and gather feedback effectively while building applications.

SAP Build teaches design methods like identifying and interviewing users to find their needs, or sketching out ideas. It also allows for the creation of clickable mock-ups of an application from such sketches. Users can turn them into refined prototypes by dragging and dropping user interface elements, importing data, creating dynamic charts, and more! They can also gather feedback on the prototype to get it just right. For inspiration, they can even browse SAP’s gallery of pre-built SAP Fiori applications and duplicate and customize them.

According to Joe Barkai, a consultant, speaker, author and blogger, charting market strategies for a connected world, the Connected Vehicle Challenge is an opportune time for young engineers and entrepreneurs to add talent, imagination, and excitement to the connected car space. “The auto industry of the future will be a diverse ecosystem of technology and solutions providers, and the Challenge offers a great opportunity for young men and women who want to take an active role in shaping its future.”

Connect2Car will run alongside the main WCX event, but will focus solely on the connected car and all its components. By registering for Connect2Car at WCX, participants will gain full access to WCX and all its activities. Register here!
