Like they say, All good things must come to an end (which means nothing lasts forever), all things and situations are temporary, or happiness is fleeting. This journey of ours for Social Sabbatical in Casablanca, Morocco, which started almost 10 months back, and was executed in Oct/Nov, has been nothing sort of adventure and something to look back and cherish for times to come.

Its almost 2 weeks since our Social Sabbatical in Casablanca Morocco ended, and today when I sit down to write my last blog on this assignment, I go down the memory lane of “how these 4 amazing weeks” went by in a breeze in the company of 12 talented and amazing SAP colleagues from different parts of the world, from different parts of SAP, with highly diverse background in terms of experience, expertise, religion, geographies, background, culture…

This extreme diversity plus an alien location and working for completely unrelated sector which has far reaching impact and outcomes, makes this journey of SAP Social Sabbatical so special and unique.

From Week 3 of the assignment, each of the 4 teams start preparing for expectation setting around final deliverables with their host clients, and start preparing the content for final delivery, preparing for internal and client presentation.

Week 4 is spent in fine tunning the presentations and deliverables, and getting ready to head back to our homes/base locations.

Group picture post Final Presentations!!

Client presentations and final presentation ( Hicham Iraqi Houssaini did the your welcome address, followed by some more dignitaries, all 4 host clients, and SAP consultants, Team Pyxera) were worth watching. Each presentation was done professionally, was better than the other and together one could see the impact that each team created. Final presentations was followed by networking event along with some Moroccan music and dance by the 4 team.

Team Jadara (SAP + Jadara Foundation)!!

And now starts the journey back home. This is when the reality hits most of us that the 4 week journey which we all had dreamt of for so long, is coming to an end and we will not see each other for god know how long.

One can see people getting emotional, wiping tears from corners of the eyes, warm hugs all over.. getting ready to bid good-bye to each other with a promise & hope to meet again whenever and wherever possible. One could witness emotional scenes outside the hotel when people started leaving one after the other. Each one of us made 12 incredible life long friends within SAP, friends at our host organizations and at Pyxera Global.

Feeling nothing sort of grateful and thankful to all my colleagues of SAP #SocialSabbatical programme in Casablanca, Morocco, to SAP, SAP CSR team, SAP Social Sabattical team and Pyxera Global team. Heartfelt thanks and warm wishes and hugs to my teammates, @Ridler, Avalon and @Miranda, Andre for being such a sport, being so accommodative and amazing teammates. You guys are simply awesome. Love you both.!! Together we did make a difference.

Glimpses from the 4 weeks os SoSA in Casablanca, Morocco

Last but not the least, this SoSA journey wont be complete without expressing my gratitude and thanks to our one and only one mentor, @Krampe, Juliane, who was simply amazing all through this journey.

The dedication to support 4 remarkable Nonprofits (Al Jisr, Jadara, Maroc Impact and Seaskin) during one month, 4 weeks nothing short of amazing journey, learning and experience!
