Week 3 of our Social Sabbatical journey with Fundo Agbara in São Paulo has been nothing short of exhilarating. It’s amazing how time flies when you’re deeply immersed in meaningful work and surrounded by the vibrant culture of Brazil. Let me walk you through the highlights of our week:

Engaging with the Third Sector Giants

One of the pivotal aspects of our week was reaching out to various NGOs in the third sector, including Fundo Casa, Fundo Baobá, Brazil Foundation, Fundação Tide Setubal, and Oxfam. Our aim was to glean insights into their project management, program execution, donor engagement, and financial reporting processes. What struck us profoundly was the unwavering community spirit prevalent in these organizations. Despite facing similar challenges, they champion collaboration, offering a beacon of hope and inspiration for small organizations like Fundo Agbara.

Navigating Solutions for Sustainable Impact

In tandem with our NGO interactions, we delved deeper into researching solutions tailored to meet Fundo Agbara’s unique needs. We liaised with vendors well-versed in compliance, taxation, and localization requirements specific to Brazil. This meticulous groundwork is instrumental in ensuring that our recommendations align seamlessly with Fundo Agbara’s mission and operational framework.

Embracing Brazilian Culture

Amidst our professional endeavors, we indulged in the rich tapestry of Brazilian culture. A highlight was witnessing the fervor of a soccer match between local titans São Paulo and Palmeiras. The electric atmosphere pulsating within the stadium, fueled by passionate fans rallying behind their teams, left an indelible mark on us. It’s a testament to the profound love Brazilians have for the beautiful game.

Communing with Nature

Nature beckoned, and we answered its call with a rejuvenating hike at Parque Estadual Cantareira. Ascending 3 kilometers to behold the panoramic vista of São Paulo city juxtaposed against the verdant backdrop of nature was truly awe-inspiring. Our encounter with playful monkeys added a touch of whimsy to the experience, reminding us of the symbiotic relationship between urbanity and wilderness.

Hike to Pedro Grande and Festival Feira Preta

Celebrating Black Culture at Feira Preta Festival

Our week culminated in a celebration of black culture and creativity at the Feira Preta Festival, the largest of its kind in Latin America. From live Samba performances to interacting with local black artisans, the festival served as a vibrant tapestry of artistic expression. Meeting an artisan whose journey was intertwined with Fundo Agbara’s impact initiatives underscored the tangible difference our collective efforts are making in the community.

Charting the Course Ahead

As we bid adieu to Week 3, we find ourselves on the cusp of a pivotal juncture. Armed with invaluable insights and experiences, we’re on the brink of finalizing our recommendations for Fundo Agbara. Our focus now shifts to meticulously comparing shortlisted solutions based on implementation costs, operational efficiency, functionality, integration capabilities, and customer testimonials. With our sights set on delivering tangible outcomes, we eagerly anticipate presenting our final deliverables next week.

Week 3 has been a testament to the power of collaboration, cultural immersion, and unwavering dedication to effecting positive change. As we forge ahead, fueled by the spirit of camaraderie and resilience, we remain steadfast in our commitment to catalyzing sustainable impact within the community. Stay tuned for more updates as our Social Sabbatical journey unfolds!
