It has been a week!

I have just realised that it has been a week since our arrival to Addis Ababa! These have been one of the most exciting days in my professional career at SAP. Meeting phenomenal people, making new friends, experiencing this vibrant country and, what’s most important, getting to know those great teams running the local social enterprises we are supporting.

After those few days of work I can’t stop thinking if it is more us from SAP and Pyxera Global helping the local organisations or rather those small Ethiopian companies helping us. Helping to understand what really matters. I have been now with the Whiz Kids Workshop for the last days and I am truly blown away by their passion, dedication and unlimited energy. Driving education — the crucial mission and change for Ethiopia — is possible with limited resources, funds and challenging infrastructure. We are used to working in fully equipped, air-conditioned offices in shiny business parks… My days in Ethiopia leave no doubt here: it is all about the motivation, attitude and the values one believes in. These can make all those serious constraints become nothing but minor obstacles.

The Social Sabbatical is one of the best things that happened to me during my professional career at SAP.
