It’s the business end of the game! — Our SAP Social Sabbatical enters the last week!
In the limited overs’ version of cricket, as the innings approaches the last quota of overs, things start becoming more serious than ever before. The batsmen feel the pressure to up the ante, and the bowlers strive to bowl as many dot balls so as to build up pressure on the batting team in the slog overs. The spectators also hold their breath as the fireworks in the slog overs fast approach!

Our SAP Social Sabbatical in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam has now entered its last week and all Team Mekong members are super busy with their clients to bring the projects to a logical conclusion by the time the executive presentations take place end of this week. Our G.A.P sub-team has been also busy with the customer workshops and deliverables over the last few days. Continuing on our design thinking journey with G.A.P, the G.A.P team defined strategy and actions to leverage up-sell and cross-sell opportunities. The team also had a value vs. waste analysis workshop to identify source of inefficiencies in one of its most commonly used processes and even defined counter-measures to deal with the root causes identified. The team also finalized the elevator pitch for G.A.P Institute which can be used by any GAPpie in future talking about the organization in any forum or in front of prospective students. It has been totally an enriching experience for Evi and myself to interact with the GAPpies and conduct these workshops. Here are some glimpses from the workshops.
Inspiring Stories
As part of the effort to build up suitable success stories for G.A.P as part of marketing collateral, we heard a few inspiring stories from GAPpies in the process. Here are a few:
Panel discussion at UNESCO event for Talent Hub, Vietnam on Work-life balance for young professionals
Talent Hub Vietnam is a forum of the top talents drawn from across Universities in Vietnam. As part of an UNESCO event at the Saigon Innovation Hub, Ho Chi Minh City on 23rd April, 2017, Evi and I joined a panel discussion to talk about SAP and also work-life balance for young professionals in the corporate world. The event was attended by 70 of the top talents drawn from various universities in Vietnam. The panel discussion was moderated by Mr. Phạm Hồng Anh, Chief Academic Officer of G.A.P Institute. G.A.P Institute serves as a strategic partner for the UNESCO event. Questions varied from our experiences and challenges when we joined our first job to how do we see the influence of technology on work-life balance. It was great to see the amount of enthusiasm in the hall, the inquisitive faces in the audience and the quality of questions from the students. Looking at these students, I must say, Vietnam has a bright future ahead! Here are some glimpses from the event at the Saigon Innovation Hub.
That’s it for now. Watch out for my next story titled The Slog Overs! coming your way.
