The time has gone by quickly. I cannot believe that we are already in our last week of Social Sabbatical. I am very happy to see that we are making some difference but at the same time, I am sad to see that our social sabbatical is going to end soon. I will miss our time to work for Vision for Youth, local food in lunch, our dinner chit-chat, late night work, our weekend Safaris and very strong bond that we have developed with Vision for Youth and SAP social sabbatical team.

Team work

Yesterday, we presented our deliverables to Vision for Youth Leadership Team and Staff. It was amazing to see their enthusiasm.

Few snapshots of our final presentation to Vision for Youth

After our presentation, Vedastus (Program Direction for Vision for Youth) said that “They can now represent Vision for Youth more confidently to the world”. We were so happy to hear so many good words from them.

Our moments after presentation

We will be presenting our final presentation on Friday in front of our host organizations and SAP East Africa Managing Director.

Vision for Youth Team (Obviously, we are also part of their family now)

Today is our last day working with Vision for Youth but it looks like that this is not our last day here as we want to be in touch with them so that we can enjoy their success. We are learning a lot of things from them. They have a very small team but their impact is huge. They are working very hard to fulfill dreams of Youth.

Last weekend, we went to Enduimet Wildlife Management Area (WMA) with Honeyguide team. Enduimet WMA is around 3 hours’ drive from Arusha. We had such an amazing experience — driving bicycle in savanna, night safari, camping night under stars, sunset experience etc.

We visited Maasai Boma (Local village of Maasai community). Komolo from Honeyguide invited us for this experience. He explained Maasai culture to us. I saw a different world which is far from the world in which we are leaving. I was just blown away with the amount of hardship that they are facing — they bring water by walking so many miles, dust all around, no health services etc. But best part was that they are still keeping their head high and preserving their culture & ecosystem. Its hard to describe their life.

We are in last final hours to gear up for our final presentation. Stay tuned for our story of final hours.
