While I won’t be travelling to space, I thought the picture is quite appropriate to capture the excitement and anticipation regarding my upcoming journey

3 more days until I get to see all the fellow participants

2 days to get from my current location to my destination, Hyderabad, India

1 day until my trip starts

I consider my upcoming assignment a once in a lifetime opportunity.

My application process for this amazing initiative — SAP’s 2018/19 Global Sabbatical program — started in May of last year.

SAP’s Social Sabbatical initiative is a cornerstone of SAP’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, and one example of how SAP turns our purpose “to help the world run better and improve people’s lives” into action. It consists of a “portfolio of global pro-bono volunteering assignments where highly-diverse teams of SAP employees provide their skills and business expertise to foster social impact by solving concrete challenges for non-profit organizations and social enterprises”.

One of the reasons I am proud to work at SAP and honored to be one of this year’s selected participants, is that SAP’s purpose closely aligns with my own goals, to have an impact and contribute to making this world a better place.

I invite you to learn more about my actual assignment and follow my journey over the next couple of weeks.
