#sapsocialsabbatical Following an incredible weekend, it’s another great week, despite being tired the energy to excel is in the air. It’s midweek of 3rd week in Uganda

Monday, already some great alignment between the teams which shows synergy between the project. The field research is continuing to provide incredible insights.

Tuesday, the Business Modelling team are hosting a workshop on business Modelling canvas with all VTI’s. As expected the start was at Ugandan time, however the appetite to succeed made an incredible workshop for all. Refer to short video….

Wednesday, after meeting with Stanley where we agreed a potential support from his team, we continued with some field research near St. Joseph. Actually, turned out to be an incredibly insightful and memorable experience. We conducted 7 interviews from the town and discovered some great stories from Alumni, Head of Parish, students, tailors, welders and auto repair. It appears that VTI’s are very well known and would be choice, however funds and planning is the number one issue, as they continue to have large families up to 10 kids.

One of the most memorable moments of the Ugandan adventure was the visit to a primary school and initially an interview with teachers who work closely with the VTI and expect 45 students to transfer to the VTI, subject to funds from parents. The whole interview was outside and came alive when we were surrounded by ~300 students all dressed in pink and created a circle. Initially they were shy of photos and videos, but then warmed and eventually helped create some great boomerang short clips

Re-boosted by the kids, we moved to St. Joseph vocational institution and discovered a wonderful workshop bring run by our Marcomms colleagues. Witnessed some fabulous progress from flip harts and “aura” within the workshop….great job ladies!!!

At the same time we met many school children who came to utilize the expansive facilities of playing football and netball

Children using facilities at St. Joseph

Another Wonderful Start to the Week!!!

Feedback from St. Joseph from session run by Fabienne, Juliane and Rea

Something Learnt / Fun: Children are shy with photo’s video, although their gaze is amazing; Vocational training is preferred over University, mainly due to cost and job security; The ICS team are involved in awesome activities which could be levergaed better by vocational institutes; children love to touch “muzungu’s” especially white skin; Business model canvassing can really help institutes to plan great things!!
